Everyone can understand the raw, physical power of the elements, and none more than those who wield those forces directly. Yet there are some who are able to access powers beyond the literal, mechanical definitions these substances. These sages, or “Symbolists,” see in these primordial entities a greater spiritual and psychological reality. By conforming their wills to the lessons the elements implicitly teach, Symbolists are able to unlock abilities beyond the manipulation of matter: rather than simply bend the elements, Symbolists discover how to bend themselves.
You learn an additional spell when you reach certain levels in this class. They are considered elementalist spells for you and do not count toward your total spells known. At 3rd level, choose one spell from the 3rd-level row of the spell list associated with your elemental affinity. At 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th level, choose an additional spell from a row on the table equal to or lower than your elementalist level. (You may choose a spell from the same rows on a different table if you have the elemental affinity associated with that table.) When you gain a level, you can replace one of these spells with a spell of equal or lower level from the same table.

At 3rd level, you gain proficiency in a skill associated with your elemental affinity, or an expertise die in that skill if you are already proficient. When you gain the Expand Element, Improved Expand Element, and Greater Expand Element features at 5th, 11th, and 17th level in this class, you gain this feature again with reference to the elemental afnity you added or improved at that level.
At 3rd level, you add half your elementalist level (rounded up) to your total spell points.
At 7th level, the power which allows you to guide the elements also allows you to guide yourself. When you make a skill check, you may spend 1 spell point to use your spellcasting ability for the check in place of the ability the skill normally uses. Likewise, when you make a saving throw, you may spend your reaction and 2 spell points to add your spellcasting ability modifier to the saving throw (even if your spellcasting ability modifier is already included). You may only use spell points granted by the Elementalist class when using this ability.
At 11th level, meditating on your element helps you endure the trials that beset you. You gain resistance to psychic damage, and you have advantage on concentration checks. While concentrating on an elementalist spell, you are immune to psychic damage.
At 15th level, your deep study of the elements allows you to suddenly surge ahead in power and understanding, far exceeding your normal limits. Choose one of the following spells associated with one of your elemental affinities. You may cast this spell once per long rest without spending spell points. (With the Narrator’s approval, you may select a different 6th-level spell appropriate to your element.)
