Among heralds, Lovesworn possess the distinction of drawing their power from the most common of oaths: to remain faithful and united with those they love, even to the end of their days. While many Lovesworn first discover this font of strength in the passions of romance, such fleeting emotions do not ultimately sustain them. Rather, these heralds draw power from their faithfulness and service to those they hold most dear, even in quiet, hidden moments devoid of obvious heroics and fanfare. As such, Lovesworn need not be engaged in romance at all, with many making their pledges to other family members or platonic friends. In fact, the vast majority discover that their pledge of fidelity broadens their love rather than restricting it, allowing their devotion to extend to all they encounter.
All Lovesworn hold similar tenets, regardless of the object of their devotion.
As You Wish. No task is too great, nor too small, in the service of those you love.
Ever Faithful. Within the bounds of your conscience, you never break trust with a loved one.
Selfless. You always prefer the good of those you love, even at your own expense.
Thick and Thin. You share in both the bounties and the sufferings of those you love.
Add the utility school of magic to your list of herald spells.
At 3rd level, you gain the following Channel Divinity options.
Fidelity. As an action, you grant a creature you touch immunity to the charmed condition and spells of the compulsion school until the start of your next turn, ending any such effects. Being subject to any of the aforementioned effects cannot prevent you from using this Channel Divinity option.
Second Self. When you cast a spell that targets a creature or are targeted by such a spell, you may use your reaction to also target an additional willing creature within 30 feet of you. Either the original or the additional target must be yourself, and all creatures targeted by the spell must be willing targets or the Channel Divinity fails.
At 7th level, you understand that the foundation of love is mutual trust. You may cast detect thoughts without a spell slot. However, when you cast this spell in this way, your target is also able to read your surface thoughts on an initial failed save. Likewise, if you choose to probe deeper into the target’s mind and the target fails its saving throw, the target is also able to probe deeper into your mind. If you choose, you may allow a willing target to read your surface thoughts or to probe deeper into your mind without (or before) doing so to them.
Once a creature succeeds on a saving throw against this ability, it cannot be targeted again for 24 hours unless it is willing.
At 15th level, you and your allies are nearly unstoppable when you set yourselves to a common task. You and allied creatures within the range of your Sacred Aura can use the Help action as a bonus action. If one of these creatures decides to use their action instead, they also contribute an expertise die to the attack or check.
At 20th level, the common love shared between you and your allies fuels your combat prowess. Whenever a creature takes the Help action within the range of your Sacred Aura after initiative is rolled, they add an additional 2d8 to your next divine smite damage, up to a maximum number of bonus damage dice equal to twice your Charisma modier (minimum of 2d8). You lose all of this bonus damage if you do not use it by the time combat ends.
